About Lucy

Lucy Sylvester

As a child Lucy’s pockets were filled with found seed heads and feathers, her love of the natural world and collecting has continued, her woodland finds are now displayed in the studio, hanging from the walls and stored in old glass science jars salvaged from a skip.

Lucy believes you cannot compete with the beauty of nature, its perfect lines, textures and forms. Taking moulds from her delicate finds, she casts into the cavity they leave, creating exact replicas of the original forms that retain the finest details.

Fragile lichens, bark textures, cow parsley stem grooves, poppy seed heads and budding twigs in solid silver and gold are often combined with a scattering of diamonds.

As the seasons change, nature provides a plethora of new inspiration, designs grow and evolve as the countryside changes throughout the year.

Since completing her MA at The School of Jewellery in Birmingham, Lucy has exhibited her work around the world, been published in many books and magazines, her Moth and Poppy ring was chosen by the lead costume designer Michele Clapton to be worn by Sansa Stark on the medieval fantasy television drama Game of Thrones.

"These natural forms with beautiful textures would decay into the ground and be gone, with direct casting from them, I've created something that will now be there forever, to be worn for a life time."
