Lucky Bean charms were popular through the Victorian and Edwardian periods, the charms were inspired by 'Sea Beans'. These are beans that were found on European beaches, having travelled for months in the ocean from far flung places, they could incrediblly still germinate. This led people to believe they must be lucky.
